About this role

The Field Engineer’s primary responsibility is to work with sales associates, customers, operational employees, and management to provide technical support, create solutions to meet customer needs, provide customer on-site services and training, and be a SME for Swagelok products, services, and applications. The Field Engineer will effectively communicate with stakeholders to ensure technical specifications, pricing, and lead times to meet our customer’s expectations and showcase our exceptional quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with account managers to identify new and growing sales opportunities, earn customer specifications/contracts for future projects, and support the sale of assemblies and services.
  • Configure solutions for customers based on business needs using mechanical skills and product knowledge.
  • Create quote documents and proposals to be presented to or sent to customers.
  • Draft assembly drawings using SolidWorks utilizing customer input, spec sheets, and P&IDs.
  • Manage projects through the quote and assembly phases with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Perform field service evaluations of customer fluid systems to identify areas of improvement, drive efficiencies, and offer possible solutions via formal reports.
  • Provide technical product and application support to Customer Service and Sales teams for escalated technical customer requests.
  • Prepare and deliver technical training presentations that explain products or services to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with the sales team and customers on status and expectations.
  • Perform assembly work adhering to strict certification requirements.
  • Continually learn about clients’ businesses, their needs, value add, and cultures.
  • Actively pursue training opportunities to gain additional knowledge.
  • Ensure each opportunity quoted or assembled adheres to the organizational processes and policies and meets Quality standards.
  • Work with the Commercial Sales Team via Sales Force and SAP business systems for opportunity management and milestones.

Work Environment:

  • Office and Fabrication Shop Environment
  • Industrial Customer Facilities and Process Plants as needed
  • Must have the ability to lift, climb, push, pull and carry 50lbs or more. Must be comfortable sitting, standing, walking, squatting, and bending as necessary for work.
  • % Time Spent Traveling: Less than 50%

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Proficient with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Autodesk, or Solid Works
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to create professional bid proposals and customer-facing reports
  • Ability to interact and communicate with internal and external customers (internal customers include peers, management, and other personnel from Swagelok Alabama | Central & South Florida | West Tennessee, as well as the Swagelok Factory)
  • Ability and desire to convey engineering principles relating to the sale of Swagelok products and services
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments, prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to maintain schedules, project milestones, meet business needs, and exceed customer expectations
  • Ability and desire to become an advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, CRM, etc.) as well as Sales Force and SAP business systems
  • Ability and desire to continuously improve self, team, and business processes
